Seven Days Of Stevie

The last two posts have contained some really "steamy" photos, that I l-o-v-e, love, but we (the staff) thought we would bring it down a notch (for today anyway) and share this picture of Stevie Nicks.

This is the very photo that Stevie signed, "To Kevin, Much Love, Stevie Nicks" that sits beside my bed. Gay? Certainly.

As mentioned previously, Stevie will be performing at Caesar's Palace in just 7 days and the show is all I can think about. (I have already obtained the set list!) Again, I don't understand it, can't explain it, but I can't wait. (To my therapist - yes, I will STOP listening to her music after THIS show... Jeesh, give a gay a break.)

After a thorough review of my "records" (i.e., ticket stubs) this will be the 40th time I have seen Stevie (either solo or with Fleetwood Mac) and I think this is a real milestone, especially because I will be 40 in just 5 months! (But don't tell anyone...I still think I will be able to pass for 39.)

To the readers of "Kev's Corner," I will try to refrain from making the next 7 days "All about Stevie..." but thanks, in advance, for indulging me once again.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thursday.

Now turn the volume on your speakers WAY up and select the link below to hear "Kev's" favorite Stevie Nicks song (the crowd goes nuts when she performs this live and so does "Kev").

The lyrics were written by Stevie (you can figure out what the song means on your own - I won't tell you) but Prince wrote and recorded the music (in just one take).

STAND BACK

Stand Back is a favorite because it's a lot of fun. It's a lot of fun because it is a dancing song. I mean, it's even fun for me, you know, hearing when it starts out. I almost feel like I 'm hearing it coming out of a club or something, so that's why it's so much fun. (I also wrote this song for my friend, "Kev," honest...)

Big Boy Pants

Welcome again to our "new" home... The boxes are unpacked, the dishes put away and the pictures are hung. (I put on my "big boy" pants and completed everything TODAY and am now too tired to write!) We have even met the new neighbors... Yes, if you click on "next blog" you will see that next to "Kev's Corner" is a Spanish lady named "Miralita" who enjoys writing all about the planets...fun AND educational, except I can't read a word of Spanish, although one of my favorite Elton John songs is titled, "A Word In Spanish." Fortunately, the song is in English. Come to think of it, there isn't even one word in that song in Spanish. Anyway, "HOLA" Miralita! Let me know if the music is too loud...

As I lamented with "Princess" that I had nothing to share today (other than the fact that the Yellow "Wiggle" is sick and leaving the group), she responded as follows -

"Britney and Paris are friends. Pam and Kid are divorcing allegedly due to the Borat movie. That girl who played the Virgin Mary in that new God movie is 16 years old and pregnant for real. Fidel Castro is too sick to attend his 80th birthday party. There is going to be an ABBA museum in Stockholm, Sweden.

Come on, get crackin'!"

So, with her permission, her contribution above is today's installment.

Have a GRRR-EAT Wednesday!

P.S. Only 8 days remain until, you got it, STEVIE NICKS!

Welcome To Our New Home...

Hello again EVERYONE!

You are probably wondering why "Kev" shut down the "Corner" only to change addresses and open up shop again just a few days later... Crazy? Without a doubt!

Well, instead of telling you some half-truths, I am going to shoot straight from the hip and share something very personal (more personal than anything I have shared thus far, give or take a "crush" or two). As a matter of fact, this isn't "Kev" writing to you now, it's actually "Kevin" (so it's serious).

It is true that I am attempting to write a book. It is also true that maintaining a blog requires time, which has taken me away from the aforementioned "book." It is true that I struggle to find "HOT Guys" every Friday... (If it were up to me, it would be David Beckham, Monday through Sunday, but then you would just get bored, unless you are a straight guy and if that's the case, you probably don't care one way or the other.) It is also true that I enjoy "Kev's Corner." It has been a great way to keep in touch with friends and family all over the country (and world). I have felt "honored" that so many people in my life have read it and liked it.

I "shut down" the blog again in "haste" (which is so UNLIKE me since I always THINK before I act and am very pragmatic, don't you think? Not flakey at all...). Unfortunately, there isn't an "ARE YOU SURE?" warning before (or after) you hit "delete" within the Blogger program. (By the way, I wish there was an "ARE YOU SURE?" option for other decisions we make in life, but that's another post...) BUT, we are BACK.

We have, however, moved to this new address - www.kevandtracey5.blogspot.com.

I liked the last "HOT Guy" so much, I am sharing this photo of him as well.

Oh, before I forget... In case you were worried, the "staff" was never fired. They simply enjoyed a long holiday weekend.

Goodnight...

(A Very Naughty) Friday's HOT Guy...

Hello again everyone! Today is, yes, Friday and that means it's time for another Friday's HOT Guy...

Today's HOT Guy is a little more "naughty" than we generally like to post (because remember, my beloved Grandmother also stops in here at the "Corner," as well as my former educators, and we DO try to exercise some judgment, albeit suspect at times).

That being said, we (you know, the entire staff here, which is up to 27 now) hope you, the reader, i.e., my Grandmother or former educators, are not offended by these images.

These pictures were sent to "Kev" by a faithful reader (THANKS, by the way...) because this guy's name is ALSO Kevin. Kevin Cage, to be exact. I can only imagine that's his "stage name," if you know what I mean. I am told you can find his "work" where they sell adult magazines, personal lubricants and other items packaged in little black bags, or you might catch him on the adult channel at the hotel next time you are traveling on business, although I have NO first hand knowledge of any of this (honest).

Enjoy your Friday.

Give Thanks...

IT'S THANKSGIVING EVERYONE (yes, I am shouting again)!

I hope you are enjoying this day, whatever you are doing, wherever you are and whomever you are spending it with...

As I reflect on what I am "thankful" for this day (we're supposed to do that, right?), while I would like to be deep, meaningful, and prophetic, I would just be feeding you a line of, well, stuffing.

What I am "thankful" for today is very basic. I am "thankful" (actually, ecstatic) for the 5th row seat I have at the upcoming Stevie Nicks concert in Las Vegas. I am "thankful" I found the picture above on the internet (because I am running out of pictures to share with you). I am "thankful" that Starbucks was open today. Finally, I am "thankful" for you, the reader... That's it (but if anything else comes to mind, I will update this post).

To my family and friends in Chicago, I am SORRY I could not be with you today... I missed you.

To everyone else, here is a little history on the origins of this day. Enjoy!

The Pilgrims who sailed to this country aboard the Mayflower were originally members of the English Separatist Church (a Puritan sect). They had earlier fled their home in England and sailed to Holland (The Netherlands) to escape religious persecution. There, they enjoyed more religious tolerance, but they eventually became disenchanted with the Dutch way of life, thinking it ungodly. Seeking a better life, the Separatists negotiated with a London stock company to finance a pilgrimage to America. Most of those making the trip aboard the Mayflower were non-Separatists, but were hired to protect the company's interests. Only about one-third of the original colonists were Separatists.

The Pilgrims set ground at Plymouth Rock on December 11, 1620. Their first winter was devastating. At the beginning of the following fall, they had lost 46 of the original 102 who sailed on the Mayflower. But the harvest of 1621 was a bountiful one. And the remaining colonists decided to celebrate with a feast -- including 91 Indians who had helped the Pilgrims survive their first year. It is believed that the Pilgrims would not have made it through the year without the help of the natives. The feast was more of a traditional English harvest festival than a true "thanksgiving" observance. It lasted three days.

Governor William Bradford sent "four men fowling" after wild ducks and geese. It is not certain that wild turkey was part of their feast. However, it is certain that they had venison. The term "turkey" was used by the Pilgrims to mean any sort of wild fowl.

Another modern staple at almost every Thanksgiving table is pumpkin pie. But it is unlikely that the first feast included that treat. The supply of flour had been long diminished, so there was no bread or pastries of any kind. However, they did eat boiled pumpkin, and they produced a type of fried bread from their corn crop. There was also no milk, cider, potatoes, or butter. There was no domestic cattle for dairy products, and the newly-discovered potato was still considered by many Europeans to be poisonous. But the feast did include fish, berries, watercress, lobster, dried fruit, clams, venison, and plums.

This "thanksgiving" feast was not repeated the following year. But in 1623, during a severe drought, the pilgrims gathered in a prayer service, praying for rain. When a long, steady rain followed the very next day, Governor Bradford proclaimed another day of Thanksgiving, again inviting their Indian friends. It wasn't until June of 1676 that another Day of Thanksgiving was proclaimed.

On June 20, 1676, the governing council of Charlestown, Massachusetts, held a meeting to determine how best to express thanks for the good fortune that had seen their community securely established. By unanimous vote they instructed Edward Rawson, the clerk, to proclaim June 29 as a day of thanksgiving. It is notable that this thanksgiving celebration probably did not include the Indians, as the celebration was meant partly to be in recognition of the colonists' recent victory over the "heathen natives." October of 1777 marked the first time that all 13 colonies joined in a thanksgiving celebration. It also commemorated the patriotic victory over the British at Saratoga. But it was a one-time affair.

George Washington proclaimed a National Day of Thanksgiving in 1789, although some were opposed to it. There was discord among the colonies, many feeling the hardships of a few Pilgrims did not warrant a national holiday. And later, President Thomas Jefferson scoffed at the idea of having a day of thanksgiving.

It was Sarah Josepha Hale, a magazine editor, whose efforts eventually led to what we recognize as Thanksgiving. Hale wrote many editorials championing her cause in her Boston Ladies' Magazine, and later, in Godey's Lady's Book. Finally, after a 40-year campaign of writing editorials and letters to governors and presidents, Hale's obsession became a reality when, in 1863, President Lincoln proclaimed the last Thursday in November as a national day of Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving was proclaimed by every president after Lincoln. The date was changed a couple of times, most recently by Franklin Roosevelt, who set it up one week to the next-to-last Thursday in order to create a longer Christmas shopping season. Public uproar against this decision caused the president to move Thanksgiving back to its original date two years later. And in 1941, Thanksgiving was finally sanctioned by Congress as a legal holiday, as the fourth Thursday in November.

Another GREAT Day To Be Gay...

Welcome back friends (and total strangers)!

If you are an ardent reader of the "Corner," you may have read a post titled, "A Great Day To Be Gay." To paraphrase that post, these are the times "Kev" celebrates and embraces his "gayness" (because, hey, what else can I do).

These "great days" happen when I least expect them, but I love the unexpected and crave spontaneity. Today was one of those days...

Just a few days ago, I let everyone know that Stevie Nicks would be performing in Las Vegas on December 8th and that "Kev," sadly enough, would not be attending. This morning, my very awesome (and handsome) ex-BF, Steve, whom you all just met this week (see "Memory Lane") called with tickets to the show. Not just tickets, but 5th row seats!. (He must have really liked what I wrote about him... Again, he is HANDSOME.)

As you can imagine, I am quite excited about this. We will, as we always do, work our way to the front row. This is probably the 20th time Steve and I have seen Stevie Nicks together and it is always fun. Steve, I PROMISE, I will behave this time...The last time I was taking (prescribed) Oxycontin (the drug all the stars are hooked on) for a pinched nerve in my neck/arm (very painful). Anyway, this very excited and drunk fan kept pulling my arm (the bad one), after I had asked her kindly, several times, not to touch me. Anyway, I told her a thing or two... Needless to say, we had to leave. Enough said.

To Steve - You are the BEST (ex) BF a gay could have. Thank you for making this happen (again...). See you in Las Vegas.

And lest my other wonderful (ex) BF, David, feels slighted, I should tell all of the readers that the only reason I met Stevie so many times was because of David... (Yes, my ex-BF's are the best, aren't they?) "Kisses" to both of you...

To all of my friends in Atlanta, Phoenix, San Francisco, Chicago, Indianapolis, Milwaukee and London (even though you don't celebrate), have a GREAT Thanksgiving.

As always, THANKS, for reading this silly blog...

Much love,

"Kev"

A Thousand Miles

Two days 'til TURKEY! (Unless you are vegetarian, and in that case, it's two days 'til TOFURKEY!)

Back in 2005, Stevie Nicks traveled the country promoting her "Gold Dust" tour. Stevie's opening act was the very cute and very talented 26-year-old Vanessa Carlton. Having seen Stevie's show 8 times that year, I saw Vanessa live and grew to love her. I even MET her backstage in Phoenix (she was very nice) but did not get a photo with her.

Vanessa's stage presence was amazing, she has great rapport with the audience, is gay-friendly, anti-Bush and I get lost in her piano playing and singing. It is very pure.

I am listening to Vanessa as I write this to you and want to share her song, "A Thousand Miles," which was played on the radio ALL THE TIME back in 2002.

This song has been playing in "Kev's" head all day today...

Vanessa's other "great" songs are "Who's To Say" and "Ordinary Day."

I hope you enjoy Vanessa as much as I do.

Click HERE to watch Vanessa perform "A Thousand Miles," and have a GREAT Tuesday.

Monday's HOT Guy...

HAPPY MONDAY TO ALL OF YOU!

This post is for "Princess" who was expecting to see Keanu Reeves last Friday, but just got little "Kev" instead.

Please keep your blog topic ideas, "HOT Guy" nominations and contributions coming! ("Kev" loves getting your email and reading your comments.) Remember, without you, "Kev" is nothing.

Enjoy your Monday and come back soon!

Memory Lane

Hello EVERYBODY! It is Sunday AGAIN and we are GLAD you have stopped in! This is post #90!

I recently learned how to work the scanner I have had for YEARS now and thought I would share some pictures from my past. I have to ask you, the reader, though, do you like seeing these kinds of pictures or should I stick with the "HOT Guy" fare I usually post? I may "mix it up" but let me know YOUR preference. As you know, we aim to please here at the "Corner..."

Take a brief trip with me down memory lane... The pictures I am sharing today are all random. No rhyme or reason to why I am posting these today. I was looking through a box of pictures (that wasn't taken when I was burglarized) and each of these pictures "spoke to me" for one reason or another...

The photo above was taken in 1990 on a cruise to Freeport in the Bahamas. Keith, the guy to my right, was one of my "best" friends during my college years. "Kev" had a HUGE crush on him ("Princess" can tell you about that since we all worked together for several years...) but, alas, Keith was straight. He later developed a nasty alcohol and drug problem. The only reason I am sharing this picture isn't to talk about Keith, my crush on Keith or Keith's drug problem, BUT to show you, the reader, that "Kev" was once quite THIN (and didn't have a drug problem). Yes, it's true. I was even referred to as "skinny" back then (which I did not like). Oh, and lest you worry, the last time I spoke with Keith, in the mid '90's, he was doing very well and was "off the sauce" (and coke..).

The picture below was taken in 1997, in Phoenix, and is my dog, Barkley James. I loved this dog more than anything. He was the BEST dog, ever. I had Barkley for about 4 years but found a new home for him because I was rarely ever home. I went through an EXTENSIVE search that took WEEKS before finding the right family for Barkley. Barkley is now 14 years old and lives in Scottsdale, Arizona (in a very nice house, I might add). I still exchange Christmas cards with Barkley's family and had visited him several times.

The photo below was taken in May of 1991 when "Kev" graduated from college. I didn't make many friends in college (I was busy working), but these were 3 of them. I also had a HUGE crush on Bill S. (the guy in the picture). Bill liked me too. Shortly before graduating, we went on a few "dates." Don't tell anyone, but "Kev" used to do Bill's homework. I can tell you that under his cap and gown here, Bill was only wearing boxer shorts and a tee-shirt... (Yes, he was HOT.) After graduation, Bill moved to California. The last I spoke with him, in the mid-'90's, he was living and working in Los Angeles and was in a relationship.

The picture below is of Steve, who was "Kev's" "BF" for 5 years. Steve and I met in 1991. Steve and I used to take a lot of weekend trips and I loved all of them. This picture was taken at the mall in Washington D.C. (in the summer, at night). Although I like all of the pictures I have of Steve (he's very cute), this is one of my favorites. The red light you see in the background is the top of the Washington Monument. This picture brought a smile to my face because it took me back to that place and time (which was nice). While I don't like to get too "personal" here at the "Corner," (really, I don't...) Steve was the first person "Kev" was ever "in love" with. We remain friends today. Steve is now in a long-term relationship with Wayne, a really great guy. (Steve is also a BIG Stevie Nicks fan, thanks to "Kev.")

The next photo I will share today is of Rudy, Steve and "Kev's" dog, resting on my FAVORITE sofa. He was the devil in fur, but I loved him too, even when he would bite my feet as I would walk around the house. (He had a sock addiction and didn't care if you were still wearing them and his little teeth were sharp.) I used to kiss Rudy's little paws. When "Kev" and Steve broke up, Rudy stayed with Steve, although he now lives with a family in Schaumburg, Illinois, and is doing well. Rudy is now 12 years old.

The last photo I will share today was taken in 2003 in Phoenix and is of me with, you got it, Stevie Nicks, Mick Fleetwood and Lindsey Buckingham. Another "fan" took this picture. She, (the fan whom I did not know) saw me at another concert in 2005 and told me she had taken a picture of me, and well, here it is... I also have a similar picture (which includes Kitten, since she was with me this evening, but don't like the way I look in it, so am not posting it).

Thanks for stopping in and indulging me. Have a GREAT Sunday, wherever you are!

Dreamy

Welcome back everybody! Just a very QUICK post to say, "Have a GR-EAT" Saturday...

"Kev" will be back tomorrow with more pictures from the vault, but for today, please enjoy these pictures of Jake Gyllenhaal.

"Kev" thinks he's "dreamy."

Friday's HOT Guy... (Holiday)

I bet you were expecting to see Keanu Reeves, Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio, or Jude Law, weren't you? Not today my friend. This is a "Friday's HOT Guy" "holiday," like the "bank" holidays in Europe...

I thought I would share the very LAST photo I have from my childhood, which I call the "Whatchoo talkin' 'bout, Willis" picture. Yes, I know, I was cute back then.

This is the last childhood photo I have BECAUSE two years ago this month, some bastards (three to be exact) broke into my home in Phoenix and took everything, all of my pictures, and even my underwear. Sad, but true. They did, however, leave Cher's Farewell Tour DVD and a Playgirl magazine. Really, what more does a gay need? (Except a DVD player.)

I hope you all have a FABULOUS weekend!

L-U-V,

"Kev"

Rock On Gold Dust Woman

You're back (and I couldn't be happier about that)!

It's been about a week or so since I posted a picture of Stevie Nicks, and well, I can't help myself (please indulge me).

For any other "fans" out there, Stevie will be performing at The Colosseum At Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on December 8th. Tickets are available at ticketmaster. Unfortunately, "Kev" will not be attending this show and is very, very sad about that.

Before I forget... A dear friend reminded me (i.e., chided me) recently that I used to carry a picture of Stevie Nicks in my wallet (yes, that friend was JoAnn...) It's true, about 19 years ago, I did. The photo above was that VERY picture, taken in 1987 for Fleetwood Mac's "Tango In The Night" CD.

Here is a picture of me at the senior prom, with my date, Stevie Nicks. Weren't we smashing?

OK, I was really standing next to Paulette P., who is not shown here but was not smashing (ssshhh, don't tell her I said that).

Who needs Photoshop? Scissors, a little scotch tape and dreams come true.

(How I spent my time 20 years ago really isn't that different than how I spend my time today... After all these years, I STILL have this picture.)

Click HERE to watch Stevie perform "Everyday" from her 2001 CD "Trouble In Shangri-La."

(A love song that "Kev" just loves and would like to dedicate just to you... Each and every one of you. Except you. And you. Not you. Maybe you. You definitely. Alright, to ALL of you. Except, just to you.)

"Kev" will be back tomorrow...

Until then, be well, whoever and wherever you are.

Finally, here is a picture of "Kev" and his other prom date, not at the prom, Michelle V.. Michelle is a TWIN (yes, this was a long time ago, when "Kev" had hair, and dated girls...).

Regards...

Well, our boy Mario did not win the "Dancing With The Stars" championship, but we still think he is pretty darn cute (and really gay, if you ask me). To Mario, our regards. To Emmitt Smith, "Congratulations!" (I am sure Emmitt Smith reads this blog...)

George Clooney was also named the "sexiest man alive" by "People" magazine today. I don't agree with this (I am sorry Kitten) but will say "Congratulations" George Clooney (who I am certain also reads this blog, probably searching for pictures of Mario).

To everyone, enjoy the rest of your week.

Oh, today is also "America Recycles Day 2006" (no lie), not to be confused with "Earth Day" which is April 22nd. Do your part - recycle something.

A Time To Celebrate...

Welcome back you! (How was that greeting? I hope the heart-felt sincerity jumped off the screen and made you feel welcomed here, like a hug.)

Today is another "special" day here at "Kev's Corner." You see, a few decades ago (give or take a year or two), a STAR was born. Not just a star, boys and girls, but a very fabulous "Princess." This "Princess" was SO excited to make her debut in the world, that she arrived in the car en route to the hospital (and then ordered a scotch on the rocks with a twist for the driver). Yes, that's true ("Kev" doesn't tell tales). That's just her way though - always make an entrance, always please the crowd. Razzle dazzle 'em. And with very little effort, razzle dazzle she does.

If you haven't guessed, today is my dear friend JoAnn's birthday. I think everyone knows the deep affection I have for JoAnn, but in case you are new here, let me bring you up to speed... In a word, she's the BOMB. The BEST friend a gay could ever have. She is beautiful, charming, intelligent, caring, dedicated and FUN. (I happen to know that her husband and children think she is quite special as well.) When I think about my friendship with JoAnn and the MANY memories I have (even when I am NOT drinking), my eyes well with tears because I feel SO fortunate to have a friend like her (and when I think of her when I am drinking, well, it's not pretty. AND when we drink together and talk about the friendship we share... OK, perhaps I have said too much. Let me stress, we are not alcoholics, although we think alcoholics are f-u-n, FUN (unless we have to pick them up off the living room floor, clean up their vomit or make excuses for their drinking). Anyway, we would never judGE Those of you wHo are, rEalLy People.

So although it is her birthday, and she will get the cake, I celebrate this day too.

Please raise your glass (whatever you are drinking, we won't tell) and help me give a big (gay) "Kev's Corner," HAPPY BIRTHDAY wish to one of my best friends...

To JoAnn, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, from all of us here at the "Corner," to you...

(I love you.)

Now turn up your speakers (even if you are at the office) and watch one of JoAnn's favorite bands, "The Killers" (yes, Brandon is cute) perform, "When You Were Young," by clicking HERE.

(JoAnn & Hubby, October 2006. Aren't they the cutest?)

Howdy

Well what do you know, you came back... (Yes, I am running out of salutations!) (I was also going to refer to you as a "yellow-bellied, lilly-livered, no good" well, you know the rest...BUT only because I was inspired by the photo of Justin above.)

The temperature here in Atlanta has dropped. It's quite cold. Make it a great day all you little cowboys and cowgirls.

"Kev" will be back tomorrow.

What's In "Kev's" iPod?

Hello all of you! I hope you are well today.

"Kev" is very excited because LeAnn Rimes's latest CD, "Whatever We Wanna," is now in stores. "Kev" has his copy, has listened to EVERY track, uploaded it to his iPod and loves it (hence, "What's in "Kev's" iPod?" although that is all we will divulge, except we can assume there is a lot of Madonna, Cher, Britney Spears, Ricky Martin, Kelly Clarkson, Justin Timberlake, Cyndi Lauper, Ashlee AND Jessica Simpson, Whitney Houston, Pet Shop Boys, and, of course...Stevie Nicks).

If you don't know "Kev," you wouldn't know that to "Kev," LeAnn Rimes ranks almost as high as the great Stevie Nicks. He loves her, always has, and can't explain why. He has all of her CD's, including the crappy Christmas ones (don't get me wrong - she sounds great, I just think holiday music is inane, always have, even as a small child). If he were "straight," he would stalk her. (I am joking of course, I am too old and too busy for that kind of behavior, but she is super cute and I am enamored with her.)

LeAnn's husband, Dean, is also very CUTE. Have you seen him? He was featured on MTV's "Cribs" filmed at their Nashville home. Now, I have never been one to speculate about someone's gayness. I really don't care. However, I think he's gay and LeAnn is headed for heart break.. I don't know the man, but, I'm just sayin'...

Tour dates have not been announced yet, but we will keep you posted!

Click HERE to watch LeAnn's video, "Some People" (AND... notice her CUTE, yet possibly gay, husband, who co-stars and then let me know what you think).

While I could not post the link to my FAVORITE LeAnn Rimes video, "Life Goes On," you can go to VH1 by clicking this link www.vh1.com. Next, select "V-Spot," then "all music videos," then search "R" for "Rimes" to locate this video. The song "speaks to me," LeAnn looks like a siren (very HOT), it was shot in New Orleans, and you can see Dean dancing in the background with his shirt off in the Mardi Gras scene as another man pursues his wife. What more could you ask for in a music video? Enjoy!

Finally, to all aspiring or established young songbirds, like LeAnn, a word of advice from "Kev"... NEVER marry your back-up dancer. Enough said.

Bon Anniversaire, Mate!

Today we would like to send "very special" birthday greetings to Jean who is "Kev's," "Princess's," "Sar's," "HOT Guy" Mr. C.'s, and "B-RAD's" friend across the pond (as well as many, many others, I am sure).

Jean, you may recall, named "Kev's Corner." She is actually the only friend who calls me "Kev." She is world traveled (yes, she's been everywhere) and educated, has a quick wit and is wickedly funny, which is why I have been relentless in asking her for a contribution to the "Corner." (We're waiting m'lady...We don't care if your daughter has a "play date" with "Apple," the daughter of, you got it, Gwyneth Paltrow. As a matter of fact, I think you should tell us about that or the number of times you have spotted Jude Law, "Madge," (who is known as Madonna here in the U.S.) the Queen, my favorite prince, Prince Harry, Hugh Grant, "Macca," "Screech" from "Saved By The Bell" or anyone else you fancy London people come across. Give us the goods, we're waiting...)

To our London friend, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, mate! Have a GREAT day. It's 11/11, make a wish...
I WILL see you this spring (yay)! Also, I would have sent you a card but I don't remember how many stamps it takes. I'm slow... (And no, we don't think you were adopted.)

To everyone else, here is one of my favorite pictures, besides all of the ones I have with Jean, taken last spring while visiting London. Their buses are amazing, aren't they?

Today is also Leonardo DiCaprio's birthday. Leo was born on this day back in 1974. He's an angel, isn't he? HAPPY BIRTHDAY Leo! You're HOT!

Friday's HOT Guy...

Today's "HOT Guy..." is "Dancing With The Stars," former, "Saved By The Bell" HOTTIE, Mario Lopez, Jr...

Mario turned 33 just one month ago today (October 10th) and was born in San Diego, California.

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY, MARIO! ("Kev" looks like that when he works out, really...)

Visit Mario's official site (although the pics are NOT HOT, i.e, no nudies...) at www.mariolopez.net

To James in S.C., this post is for you (well, and everyone else, but we'll just say it is for you.)

Have a nice weekend.

K-Fed Up

Hey Everyone! "Kev" is feeling MUCH better tonight and wants to say "THANKS" for the well wishes received this week. (For those of you who don't know him, he can be a real baby when he is sick, tired, the moon isn't bright enough, the planets are off kilter, his coffee isn't hot enough, basically, for many reasons...)

I have to say, I have been less than interested in much of what's in the news this week. I am super glad the Democrats regained the House and Senate, and I am glad Donald Rumsfeld "resigned," (mainly because he is just SO unappealing to look at and I am certain he is part Devil). Other than that, I have nothing to say about the political climate at this time.

I am also already K-Fed up with the coverage of the recent rash of Hollywood break-ups (you know, Britney & Kevin, Ryan & Reese, "Kev" & Ricky Martin (yes, I am pretending again). Can't anyway stay together, stick it out, make it work anymore? Why is this "breaking news?" Why do we care? I just don't get it, although I am "dialed in" as much as the next teenage girl is.

I hope everyone had a nice Thursday, whoever and wherever you are. I will be back tomorrow with another "HOT Guy..." "nominated" by a reader hailing from Columbia, South Carolina (whom "Kev" has never met). We (I) think everyone will LOVE his "nomination."

Goodnight. Peace out. Asta la whatever.

On The Mend.

"Kev" is on the mend. Send chicken soup. Until "Kev" is better, he has nothing but "HOT" guys to offer... I know some of you probably prefer he stay sick for this reason, but he is confident he will be feeling better, and able to write again, soon. Until then, enjoy this picture of a man "Kev" thinks is one, well, pretty special guy... David Beckham.

Today we have reached another milestone here at the "Corner." This is post #80 and, as of today, we have had over 1,500 "visits" (again, not including "Kev's) since September 1, 2006! The visits have come from people all around the world, from places "Kev" can't even pronounce... WELCOME FOREIGNERS! WE LOVE YOU! (That's PC, right?)

We welcome your comments, contributions, topic ideas and photos! (Really...I am running thin here...)

Enjoy your Wednesday.

BREAKING NEWS (that can't wait until tomorrow...) -

"Kev" has learned that Justin Timberlake will be expanding his "FutureSex/LoveSounds" tour in 2007 with PINK! "Kev" is VERY excited because he loves them both!

Visit www.ticketmaster.com for tour dates.

Another Kind of Kev...

"Kev" is home sick again today (a touch of the flu) and has lost all creativity. (A word of advice - GET YOUR FLU SHOT!)

Please enjoy this picture of another guy named "Kevin" (who "Kev" wished he looked like, since this "Kevin" is dreamy...) I actually don't remember any other details about him, other than our shared name, and that he is hot, but that's enough for me.

Happy Tuesday!

BREAKING NEWS -

Since "Kev" is home today, he has been watching a LOT of TV so he can bring you up to the minute news on this election day, although I haven't followed any of the election coverage. It's boring...

Britney Spears has filed for divorce from Kevin Federline, citing "irreconcilable differences." In recognition of this, here is another picture of "Kevin," not to be confused with me or the loser Britney is divorcing. (God, I hope I feel better tomorrow... I can't watch one more "E! True Hollywood Story," ever. The 17 I have seen today are enough.)

MORE BREAKING NEWS (yes, I am bored...)

It has been confirmed that Reichen Lehmkuhl WILL be signing his book here in Atlanta at "OutWrite Books" (a 'mo bookstore around the corner from "Kev"), although the official date is still not known... Remember, you learned that here FIRST. Stay tuned and enjoy another picture of Reichen.

Home Sick...

"Kev" is sick as a dog today, but please enjoy this picture of a guy "Kev" never gets sick of seeing.

Happy Monday to all of you. "Kev" is heading back to bed now...

Pink Ponies

Today's post comes to us courtesy of "Kev's" 5th grade teacher, Mr. D... Before I turn the "Corner" over to Mr. D., let me tell you...

Back in 1979, "Kev" was a student at a suburban grade school outside of Chicago where Mr. D. STILL teaches. Mr. D. was one of "Kev's" favorite teachers, and all these years later, I will confess to cyber space that it was because he was very CUTE and always wore very nice sweaters (my mother even thought so). I remember the robust smell of coffee on Mr. D.'s breath and I LOVED it. I attribute my current Starbuck's addiction to him. (Just to clarify, we did not have a Mary Kay Letourneau/Vili Fualaau relationship...) I wasn't the brightest or cutest kid in his class (remember, I was competing with Bryan E., whom you all saw pictures of previously) but I felt a connection to Mr. D. and wanted him to like me. After 27 years, I am happy to say that Mr. D. and I still stay in touch.

Without further delay, please welcome my friend and former educator, Mr. D...

Saturdays…..ahhhh! I tend to awaken slowly and get moving in the same manner. Move at a snail’s pace from cereal to the newspaper to coffee to online connections to the shower. This Saturday brought me a jolt of energy. Today, I thought, I should jump the subway and go downtown to the Loop and take care of several errands. And so I did.

It was a chilly morning and a bit drizzly. So Chicago in the fall. When I arrived downtown, people were in their normal “downtown” mode. Celebrating Starbuck’s to go. iPods. Cell phones. Shopping. Rushing. I fell right into place with them all. No iPod though. No cell either. Am I behind the times? Might that be a topic for another guest entry to Kev’s blog? I digress.

I hopped from store to store deciding happily that I was saving a lot of money because I was not purchasing things I really didn’t need. Just think, I said to myself, just think how rich I must be getting by not spending all the money that retailers want! This made me think that I just might be able to afford that tall skinny double vanilla latte I’ve been wanting for the past several weeks. Pardon me, but again, I digress.

As I left a major department store, I saw a sign advertising X Box 360. It was in stock and available for purchase now! Did that signify a coup for Christmas shoppers with children? That can only be my guess. And then I had a passing thought. Whatever happened to that pretty little pink pony that children of past generations had lusted over?

Obviously a drawing by someone older than those I teach, this little pony signifies something to children and to adults who still dream lofty things. A highlight. A pinnacle of success. A movement to a higher caste. If only those little children knew the reality of that pretty little pink pony. Beautiful to look at. Lovely to dream about. It’s pretty much an unattainable wish. Do you think that’s what Condi spends her waking moments thinking about? It gets her through the day.

Condoleeza Rice attempting to make a point to a foreign delegation of diplomats from one of the states formerly known as Russia. What she’s really dreaming about is brushing out that little pink pony’s pretty hair and tail.

Was this also Ronald Reagan’s motivation when he purchased his California ranch? A wonderful place to keep a pretty pink pony! What seems to have been at least a thousand years ago, Ronnie wanted that pretty pony as a gift for his true love, his Nancy. Surely, that would benefit his political dreams and take him to the top. He would be king of the world. Judging from this photo, he never received the crown. Rather, what he lived most of his adult life with was a woman, also not with a crown, but great helmet hair. Fashionable for the time, perhaps, but not pretty.

Modern culture has taken the pretty pink pony idea to places beyond our imaginations. What began as a cute little toy to be cared for as if it were real, the concept has grown to include foods, places, and even clothing. This is where the entrepreneur in me kicks in. I’d like to make it a one-stop-shopping thing. Go out for an afternoon of live entertainment while either wearing or shopping for the latest pretty pink pony fashion trends, and finishing up with a mid-afternoon sugar hit. Hot. Very hot. Is this how the dream of that little pink pony has taken shape? Is it still making little children envious of others who own one when they, in fact, do not? Not pretty.

But the reality of that little pink pony is what it is to children. It’s pretty. It creates a world of marvelous make-believe. Taking care of an inanimate object as if it were your own child. X Box 360 doesn’t hold a candle to that. It never will. In fact, it takes kids away from wishing for things that are good, and away from ideas that are somewhere beyond reach. Beyond Dorothy’s rainbow. But that pink pony is pretty. And always will be pretty. That prettiness is a major reason that “Kev” has always wanted one, lusted over one. “If only I could have one of those pretty little pink ponies. I’d care for it. I really would!” he would say to his mom. Alas, he never got his pony. He chose to become one instead. Pretty is as pretty does....
