Gold Dust Girl
WELCOME BACK BITCHES!
Stevie Nicks' summer tour stopped in Atlanta (Alpharetta) last night and "Kev" was 4th row center for the show! What can I say? She was amazing! While I did not get to shake Stevie's hand last night (both of my friends in the 2nd row did though), she did wave to me (after my incessant waving to her). Cameras were confiscated at the gate (they were filming) so I was not able to get pictures from the show. Plus, I don't own a camera. (The photo above was taken last week in Hollywood, Florida). Stevie opened with my FAVORITE song, "Stand Back." It's about not being noticed or being the object of anyone's affection (story of my life) but then, the one who shuns you, realizes their mistake and it's too late. ("So I walked on down the line away from you.") That's my Stevie Nicks' lyric lesson for tonight. It's really a sad song, but great to dance to. I have noted in my last will and testament that I would like this song played at my memorial. Prop me up for it. Stevie also performed her classic hits including, "Rhiannon," "Gold Dust Woman," "Dreams," "Outside The Rain," "If Anyone Falls," and "Edge of Seventeen" to name a few. Anyhoo, the show was GR-EAT. There were several other people at the show whom I have met over the years and it was good to see them as well. "Cowgirl" was there. "Guy in wheel chair from Boston" was there. "Won't stop singing over the band" was there. "Thinks she's Stevie Nicks" was there. "Cries all night" was there. "Another one who thinks she's Stevie Nicks" was there and finally, "Lady who needs deodorant" was there. (I'm "tight" with these people.) At one point during the "Edge Walk," a group of them were yelling "Kevin" (that's me), wanting me to join them at the edge of the stage. I was touched, really. I ignored them. (I am viewed as a very serious fan, or "Gold Dust Girl," among the regulars, but you should know that by now. I am a micro celebrity at these shows, no lie.) I do get tired of the basic questions that I am always asked at the concerts like, "How old is Stevie? Is she married? Does she have children?" I told that novice little girl to stop talking to me. I'm a Gold Dust Girl. Then I said, "Would you like a beer?" I am of course, kidding, although the part about the beer and being a Gold Dust Girl is true. (I answered that Hannah Montana wannabes questions - "Turned 60 on May 26th," "One loveless marriage of convenience for 4 months to her deceased best friend's husband for the purpose of raising Matthew, who she is now putting through college at Georgia Tech" and "No. No natural children. Doesn't like 'em.") Anyways, she was adorable in her "The Boots Are Back" Stevie Nicks tee-shirt. I told her that I almost wore that same shirt to the show (which is true) but it looks best on a young girl such as herself. She reminded me that I am a Gold Dust Girl. Hysterical. I love little girls. (Does that sound perverted?)
I could not find any YouTube clips of last night's show but perhaps they will appear later in the week.
"Kev" may be in Chicago THIS Saturday for Stevie's show at Northerly Island! (Keep your fingers crossed!)
Our friend, "Sar," (the smartest friend I have) sent THIS clip. It's spot on.
Okay, I am very tired tonight.
I hope YOU have a GR-EAT Thursday! (There will be no post tomorrow since I will be at "Mamma Mia," but stop back on Friday, would ya?)
Much love, "Stand Back," yadda, yadda, yadda -
"Kev"
