Seven Wonders

Hey EVERYONE! What's new? "We" hope YOU are swell!

"We" have LOTS to write about but no time to write (YIKES!)

I will tell you that TODAY is my Grandfather's birthday! He was born on this day back in 1924. TODAY would have been his 85th! (I had to mention this since he is in my thoughts today.)

"We" will be BACK soon (promise), but until then, please enjoy this piano rendition of one of my favorite Fleetwood Mac songs, ever, called "Seven Wonders." The song was written by Stevie Nicks (and a gal named Sandy Stewart) and is from, brace yourself...1987.

This song holds "special" meaning for me (and yes, reminds me of someone like most songs do). It was out/popular when I was just 20 years old and was just starting to frequent the really FUN "clubs" on Belmont & Halsted in Chicago. (I loved under age clubbing.) I used to request this song at "Sidetracks" when it was just a small galley of a bar. (FYI - while still there, "Sidetracks" has expanded and been updated...)

Anyhoo, ENJOY!

SING ALONG!

So long ago
Certain place
Certain time
You touched my hand
All the way
All the way down to Emmiline
But if our paths never cross
Well you know I'm sorry but
If I live to see the seven wonders
I'll make a path to the rainbow's end
I'll never live to match the beauty again
The rainbow's end

So it's hard to find
Someone with that kind of intensity
You touched my hand I played it cool
And you reached out your hand for me
But if our paths never cross
Well you know I'm sorry but
If I live to see the seven wonders
I'll make a path to the rainbow's end
I'll never live to match the beauty again
The rainbow's end

So long ago
It's a certain time
It's a certain place
You touched my hand and you smiled
All the way back you held out your hand
If I hope and I pray
Ooh it might work out someday
If I live to see the seven wonders
I'll make a path to the rainbow's end
I'll never live to match the beauty again

If I live to see the seven wonders
I'll make a path to the rainbow's end
I'll never live to match the beauty again

If I live to see the seven wonders
I'll make a path to the rainbow's end
I'll never live to match the beauty again"

Riddles

SUP y'all? It's K-E-V, Kev here! It is Sunday and I am blue because I, like most of you, have to go back to work tomorrow. (No, I didn't win the Mega Millions over the weekend...)

I have posted this video here before. The song was playing in my head today and it reminds me of a not-so-long-lost friend (who I spoke with just TODAY). Yes, I'm talking in riddles. Riddles are fun. Anyhoo, I hope you enjoy this old song again like I do.

Have a GREAT week everyone!

Chicago Rock 'N Roll Half Marathon

Hello EVERYONE!

How are YOU? I am swell. Actually, I have a stye in my left eye and it's swollen up something bad so don't expect much today, alright?

Here is one pic (the only one I could afford) from the first inaugural Chicago Rock 'N Roll Half Marathon that took place last Sunday. "Kev" (still me!) was the 4,512th person of 14,438 to finish. While I reported erroneously that my time was 1:59, I have since learned that my official time was 2:02. (Nuts!) While better than the last, I wanted to finish in under two hours. Anyhoo, the weather was great, the city views were spectacular and it was just a lot of fun. (I look like a real athlete thanks to fancy "trick" photography, don't I?)

I will tell you.... I had to laugh a bit about something.... One of my dearest friends in Atlanta, Scott, does not care for Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'." (He says it makes him cry.) I am certain this song was the official song of the half marathon, performed by at least 7 of the 12 bands WHILST I ran past them. Had I had my phone, I would have called my friend Scott just to say, "See, it's a nice song! No more crying for you!"

In addition to the run, "Kev" had the BEST time visiting with several friends in Chicago including Steve, Wayne, "#1," #1's family, Mr. D., his partner Sam, Mrs. S, her husband, Mr. S., and my old friend Doug! (Did I forget anyone?) It was nice to see the city through tourist eyes too. I love Chicago...

On a sad note, my second gold fish, "Sherrill," passed away whilst I was away. R.I.P. Sherrill. I think I am done with fish. I am happy to have my counter space back (my new wine rack looks great though)!

Alright you hookers (again, term of endearment), I hope YOU have a GREAT rest of YOUR week.

Don't Stop Believin' -

"Kev"
