The Wizard of Oz

The phones here at "Kev's Corner" were ringing off the hook this afternoon as news broke of the split between Hollywood HOTTIE Ryan Phillippe and his cuter than cute wife, Reese Witherspoon. (Thanks for all the calls...)

Since this isn't a real news agency, and we employ no real journalists here, (again, it's just me) we have no comment except to say that we hope you will respect their privacy during this difficult time (OK, we swiped that from their official break up announcement). As if we are going to run into them anyway... Although, I should tell you, while Reese was filming "Sweet Home Alabama" (parts of it were shot here in Georgia) she lived at "The Phoenix" right next door to "Kev" (yes, it was exciting, except I didn't know she lived there until she had already moved out). She even ate Thai from the SAME Thai place "Kev" goes to.

Anyway, best of luck to Ryan and Reese...(Ryan, if you are reading this, CALL ME...)

"Kev" was in "Fog City" this past weekend and caught "Big Daddy's" performance in "Shopping! The Musical" with alpha friends Kitten and Tiger (as well as "Poodle" and her husband, "Mr. Poodle," whom "Kev" just loves). David, I mean "Big Daddy," or "Retail Man" (you have to see the show) was simply awesome and "Kev" was quite impressed. Thanks again David, for your hospitality. It was really great to see you...

San Francisco, was, as always, beautiful. I am certain Frank Baum's "Oz" from "The Wizard of Oz" was written about San Francisco (although I can't confirm that, so I am not certain, only speculating). I can SPECULATE that "Oz" from "The Wizard of Oz" was written about San Francisco. (You see the parallels, right?)

BREAKING NEWS...

"Kev's Corner" friend, Mr. P, has completed the 2006 Dublin Marathon, sponsored by Adidas, in Dublin, Ireland. CONGRATS to Mr. P... That's quite an accomplishment and the entire staff here at the "Corner" is proud of you! Full details when he returns (or else I will make something up later...).

To all, have a GR-EAT week and...THANKS for stopping in! "Kev" will be back later this week!

(The photo above, which also reminds me of "Oz" from "The Wizard of Oz," is actually my building...Yes, it's very "gay." This is also an artist's rendering, not an actual photo. If it were an actual photo, you would see the surrounding high rises, Starbucks, many many gay men and, unfortunately, several homeless people in need.)

Friday's HOT Guy...

Hello everybody! This Friday's "HOT Guy" is coming to you a little early, again, on Thursday...

Yes, this is "Kev's" husband, Reichen (don't tell Lance...). I can't get enough of him, can you blame me?

In case anyone is counting, this is also post #69 here at "Kev's Corner."

"Kev" will be back next week, if he feels like it.

To Kitten, Tiger, and David -
See you in S.F.!

To Patrick -
Safe travels and "godspeed" (What do you say to someone running a marathon? I don't know the appropriate send off? Erin go Braugh!)

BFF's

"Kev" is out tonight (OK, he's right here...), but please enjoy this article from today's news. The photo above is simply coincidence and does not imply that "HOT Guys," Lance Armstrong and Matthew McCona-i'm-so-gay, are BF's, they are simply BFF's. Anyway, here's the article...

TRENTON, N.J. (Oct. 25)
New Jersey's Supreme Court opened the door to gay marriage Wednesday, ruling that homosexuals are entitled to the same rights as heterosexuals, but leaving it to lawmakers to legalize same-sex unions.

The high court gave lawmakers 180 days to rewrite marriage laws to either include same-sex couples or create a new system of civil unions for them.
The ruling is similar to the 1999 decision in Vermont that led to civil unions there, which offer the benefits of marriage , but not the name.

"Although we cannot find that a fundamental right to same-sex marriage exists in this state, the unequal dispensation of rights and benefits to committed same-sex partners can no longer be tolerated under our state Constitution," Justice Barry T. Albin wrote for the 4-3 majority's decision.

Outside the Supreme Court, news of the ruling caused confusion, with many of the roughly 100 gay marriage supporters outside asking each other what it meant. Many started to agree that they needed to push for a state constitutional amendment to institute gay marriage.

Garden State Equality, New Jersey's main gay and lesbian political organization quickly announced Wednesday that three lawmakers would introduce a bill in the Legislature to get full marriage rights to same-sex couples.

Gay couples in New Jersey can already apply for domestic partnerships under a law the Legislature passed in 2004 giving gay couples some benefits of marriage , such as the right to inherit possessions if there is no will and healthcare coverage for state workers.

Democratic Gov. Jon S. Corzine supports domestic partnerships, but not gay marriage.
Supporters pushing for full gay marriage have had a two-year losing streak in state courts including New York, Washington, and in both Nebraska and Georgia, where voter-approved bans on gay marriage were reinstated.

They also have suffered at the ballot boxes in 15 states where constitutions have been amended to ban same-sex unions.

Cases similar to the one ruled on Wednesday, which was filed by seven by gay New Jersey couples, are pending in California, Connecticut, Iowa and Maryland.
"New Jersey is a stepping stone," said Matt Daniels, president of the Virginia-based Alliance for Marriage , a group pushing for an amendment to the federal Constitution to outlaw same-sex marriage. "It's not about New Jersey."

Hiatus, Schmiatus

OK, I am having a hard time saying "goodbye" to the "Corner..."

Here are some pictures of one of "Kev's" favorite actors, again, I haven't seen ANYTHING he has been in, but trust he is "stellar" and like him A LOT...

Please enjoy these pictures of actor Ryan Phillippe (and enjoy the rest of your week).

Ryan's new movie, "Flags of Our Fathers" is in theatres now!

Sponge Bob Gay Pants

No, "Kev" hasn't come out of his self-imposed "hiatus," however, this photo of one of "Kev's" BFF's, June (and her BF, Eric) with Sponge Bob Gay Pants, received today, was just too good not to share... (Isn't she the cutest...)

June has always been "gay friendly" and has always tried to help "Kev" out in the "love" department (I think she asked Bob if he was currently seeing anyone and then slipped him my number), but I draw the line at square shaped men with dialated eyes and two teeth that look like they are strung out on crack, although he looks like he would be a LOT of fun in bed (thanks though June, for always looking out for me...).

To everyone, I hope you had a GREAT weekend, however you spent it... ("Kev" did.)

Last Dance

They say all good things, and mediocre ones too, must come to an end... After MUCH thought, I have decided that I can't devote the time and energy to maintaining "Kev's Corner" the way that I would like to, and well, if I can't "do it right," I would rather not do it at all, at least for now... (That's typical "Kev.")

Before I go, however, I have to say that I never imagined this blog would have been read by my family, friends, co-workers, former teachers, ex-loves, one-night stands, complete strangers, the mail man, the UPS man, the concierge downstairs, and probably the U.S. Government (OK, I am just getting carried away here...).

While I will not take the "Corner" down again, and hope you will "enjoy" previous posts, I am devoting the time I would spend here to another "project"... Once that is "complete," "Kev" will be back...

Until then, THANKS for stopping in! Be well and Godspeed (whatever that means).

Much love,

"Kev" (and Tracey)

P.S. Over the months, a few people have asked me about something contained in my profile - the cake being left out in the rain and "loving it." I couldn't leave you, if only temporarily, without giving you a response.

Here is the answer...

Spring was never waiting for us, dear
It ran one step ahead
As we followed in the dance
Between the parted pages and were pressed,
In love's hot, fevered iron
Like a striped pair of pants

CHORUS
MacArthur's Park is melting in the dark
All the sweet, green icing flowing down...
Someone left the cake out in the rain (HERE YOU GO!)
I don't think that I can take it
'cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe again
Oh, no!

I recall the yellow cotton dress
Foaming like a wave
On the ground around your knees
The birds, like tender babies in your hands
And the old men playing checkers by the trees

CHORUS

There will be another song for me
For I will sing it
There will be another dream for me
Someone will bring it
I will drink the wine while it is warm
And never let you catch me looking at the sun
After all the loves of my life
You'll still be the one.

I will take my life into my hands and I will use it
I will win the worship in their eyes and I will lose it
I will have the things that I desire
And my passion flow like rivers through the sky.
And after all the loves of my life
After all the loves of my life
I'll be thinking of you
And wondering why.

MacArthur's Park is melting in the dark
All the sweet, green icing flowing down...
Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don't think that I can take it
'cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe again
Oh, no!
Oh, no
No, no
Oh NO!!

"MacArthur Park," Donna Summer

(I do not know what this song means, but it is VERY dramatic and VERY "gay." I used to sing it A LOT. It is also probably one of the worst songs ever written and recorded. I LOVED it...)

Finally, click NOW WHO LEFT MY CAKE OUT IN THE RAIN? to watch Donna Summer perform "MacArthur Park."

Friday's HOT Guy...

Sometimes Friday can't come fast enough... Well, here at the "Corner," it is "Friday," even though it is actually STILL "Thursday." (It is also sunny and 85 degrees...)

We (me) have had the MOST requests to "feature" these two "HOT Guys," "Grey's Anatomy's" Patrick Dempsey and Eric Dane ("Dreamy" and "Steamy"). Before you correct me, I know it is "Mc..." I have to say, I don't watch the show myself, although I know it airs on ABC Thursday nights at 9:00 p.m. (ET). (Who is "Dark & Nasty" or "Dark & Dirty?")

SO for all of you who have asked, this post is for you...

SUPER Wednesday

Just a note to say, hope your day was "SUPER..." (yes, that's "SUPER" with a lisp...)

"Kev" will be back on Friday with a couple "HOT Guys" he thinks you will enjoy...

In Memory...

Good evening all... Anyone who stops in at "Kev's Corner" or has read two or more posts is familiar with one of "Kev's" very best friends, JoAnn, a.k.a. "Princess." (We have been friends for 27 YEARS, and that is, well, quite special...)

Last month, JoAnn's 93-year-old "Nonna," Josephine, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. JoAnn called last night to say that Josephine had "passed on," in her sleep, at her home, earlier in the evening. While I view death and loss as a very natural, but personal matter, and do not want to trivialize it by mentioning it here, I did not want to write about anything else tonight.

I am not going to attempt a tribute to Josephine, because it will not do her justice, but I will say, as JoAnn would tell you, that she was a true matriarch from the old country.

What an accomplishment to produce an amazing family of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, reaching the age she did while maintaining her mental capacity and independence.

We should all be so lucky. She won the game.

On my recent trip home, I joined JoAnn, her parents (whom "Kev" also LOVES), aunt and uncle on a visit with Josephine. JoAnn was bejeweled in, I think, almost every piece of jewelry her "Nonna" bestowed upon her. It was a very sweet act of honor and respect and did not go unnoticed by "Nonna" either.

Finally, I have to share something that I HOPE will make JoAnn chuckle... As you all know, "Kev" loves, yes, Stevie Nicks, and lives in her lyrics. Whether I am drinking a can of soda, driving to the office, reading my mail, paying my bills, or shopping at the mall, I have the ability to draw upon Stevie's infinite words to enhance meaning in my own life. She's prophetic. I know...I have too much time on my hands. Anyway, JoAnn has known of my Stevie "infatuation" since we were teens, and it was often the source of laughter, at least for JoAnn. One of the several songs JoAnn would mimic/mock to taunt and tease me was "Edge of Seventeen" (which people often think is titled, "Just Like The White Winged Dove" - it isn't...) I think JoAnn even "sang" this to me last week right after she gave her rendition of "Gypsy" when I ordered the "gypsy" breakfast skillet (minus the ham). "Edge of Seventeen" is about the death of John Lennon and the death of Stevie's uncle, whom she was with when he passed. Stevie sings, "I hear the call of the nightbird, singing come away..." When JoAnn called last night to tell me that Josephine had passed away, my first thought was, "She heard the call of the nightbird..." I hope that isn't disrespectful in any way and I only hope the "nightbird" waits for me, and all of you, as long as she waited for Josephine.

To JoAnn -
What else can I say... You are loved tremendously and I know how proud your "Nonna" was of you, even when she mistakenly thought you swiped her china... Oh, "and to Hell with Olga" (inside joke..).

XOXOXOXO,

"Kev"

A Friend In Need... A "Sistah!" Indeed!

HELLO AGAIN EVERYBODY! (I capitalized every letter of every word so you would get the sense that I am excited and shouting at you...)

I actually am a little "excited" tonight. No, I didn't just make out with yesterday's "HOT Guy", Reichen Lehmkuhl, or win the lottery, although either would be EXCITING... I am "excited" for another reason - I am "excited" to help...

Before I tell you what all the "excitement" is about, let me first tell you about a friend who is near (literally, he lives like 2 miles from me) and dear to my heart... You see, he isn't only my friend, he is my "sistah!" but not to be confused with my sister, whom I will write about very soon... My "sistah!," Ken, and I met about a year and a half ago through mutual friends and hit it off instantly! Ken is what "Kev" refers to as a "natural healer" (no, he isn't Native American or a witch doctor). He is someone that, when in his presence, puts you at ease. A very kind and gentle soul that "Kev" treasures. We actually have so much fun together (he is VERY funny) that we are often separated by hosts of the parties we attend together and are forbidden from sitting next to one another when out to dinner with a group of friends. When invited somewhere, we each, I have learned, typically ask the "invitor" if the other will be there. You get the picture...

Tonight's post isn't about my fabulous "sistah!," however, but about my "sistah's!" "brutha!," Jerry.

The following is a letter from "brutha" Jerry...

My name is Jerry Bosshart. I am 54-years-old and I need a heart transplant. I don't know how many other people in my position actually have the word "hart" in their name - but if that's not a coincidence, losing my father and grandfather to heart attacks now seems prophetic.

After residing in Los Angeles for almost 20 years and with my two children now grown and living in Chicago, I moved to Atlanta in 1996 to reunite with my mother, brother and sister. Within weeks, I had a severe heart attack and underwent quadruple bypass surgery. I lost 50% of my hearts pumping capacity, but recovered with the tireless help of my family who saw after my daily care until I was able to return to work.

In the ten years since the bypass, I have averaged one hospitalization per year - each has put a further strain on my heart function including the onset of a serious neurological disorder, Central Sleep Apnea. In September 2004, I was hospitalized with symptoms of end-stage, congestive heart failure. I recovered but was unable to go back to work. Thanks to Emory Center for Heart Failure and Transplantation, my condition is stable right now... Nevertheless, a recent evaluation confirmed that a heart transplant is my only chance of survival.

If I'm lucky enough to receive a heart, my new life will be filled with pay back for the extra years I've been given, not only from the advances in medicine but also for the doctors who helped me even when they knew they might not get paid. And then there is my family, whose unconditional love, understanding and sacrifices are just as responsible for me still being alive. When I am able to resume working, I want to continue advocating for seniors and the disabled and I would also like to work with patients suffering from sleep disorders.

The costs for a heart transplant are astronomical. As of this writing the only coverage I have is Medicaid, which will take care of my medical maintenance up to the time of the transplant. AN ADULT HEART IS THE ONLY ORGAN TRANSPLANT THAT GEORGIA MEDICAID WILL NOT COVER. Post transplant medications alone will be at least $2,500 per month, for the rest of my life.

To help ease the financial burden a fund raising campaign in my honor has been established with the National Transplant Assistance Fund (NTAF). NTAF is a non-profit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for the last 23 years. Won't you consider making a tax-deductible donation? No amount is too small.

I greatly appreciate your generosity, support and prayers.

Jerry

If you would like to make a contribution to the NTAF on Jerry's behalf, please let me know and I will send the contribution form to you via email. Contributions are, as Jerry indicated, tax deductible. Contributions are NOT made directly to Jerry (or "Kev" or even to "Kev's" "sistah!") but are sent to the NTAF on behalf of Jerry. Also, if you have questions about the NTAF, you can contact them directly at (800) 642-8399.

I had the pleasure of meeting Jerry tonight and was moved by his story, even before having any vodka. What Jerry did not tell you in his letter is that the cost of a heart transplant runs approximately half a million dollars. Before Jerry can be considered for the transplant, he has to have approximately $100,000 set up in a trust to ensure that he can pay for the medication he referred to above, needed post-transplant. If Jerry does not have this transplant, his time with us is limited...

To Jerry - It was a pleasure meeting you. I wish you much success in your fund raising efforts and I will "hit the pavement" tomorrow on your behalf. I also wish you much success in your course of treatment. Thanks, too, for having such a wonderful "brutha!," my "sistah!" Oh, about the photo above... Since I don't have a photo of you, the choices were Stevie Nicks or a random "HOT Guy." I picked the picture I thought you might like best...

TO EVERYONE ELSE (I am shouting again), take care, thanks for stopping in and COME BACK SOON! (I will keep everyone posted on Jerry's progress!)

"Kev's" Post Script:
Although this is of no help to Jerry, or even about Jerry, I HAD to let everyone know that "Kev's" name (full name too, not just "Kev") appears on a plaque in the "Jess Nicks" wing of the Arizona Heart Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. Jess is, you got it, Stevie's father, who worked tirelessly for years to raise millions of dollars in research and treatment funds in the fight against heart disease. I won't tell you how much "Kev" contributed for that dubious honor but it was less than the cost of a heart transplant. Stevie's father died one year ago from heart disease at the age of 80.

I Love Reichen! & EXCLUSIVE News...

Welcome, once again, to "Kev's Corner..."

Just a short post today to tell everyone that the "reconstruction project" (the republishing of all posts that had been previously deleted) is now complete (HOORAY)!

If you are new to the "Corner," we invite you to read all posts, from start to, well, today, but kindly suggest that you at least read the very FIRST post, dated July 30, that addresses how this all came about by selecting the archives at the right of the page (is this a run on sentence?). But only if you feel like it. Far be it for us to tell you what to do...

"Kev's" FAVORITE "HOT Guy," Reichen Lehmkuhl's book, "Here's What We'll Say," is now in bookstores. "Kev" already has a copy. Click
I LOVE REICHEN
to visit Reichen's official website. (You can even email him, like I did...) Reichen is also featured in this month's "Undergear" magazine...

Click HERE to hear Reichen's boyfriend, Lance Bass, sing "Tearin' Up My Heart." ("Kev" can play this song on the piano but suggests you NEVER play it to a fella on a first date. Nothing makes a guy run faster than playing this, or REM's "Everybody Hurts.")

Although Farrah Fawcett most likely does not stop in here at the "Corner," we would like to say to Farrah that we are sorry about your recent cancer diagnosis and wish you a speedy recovery. (I love her. I had a hamster named "Farrah" once. She died, but not from cancer. I think the dog ate her.)

To everyone else that does stop in here at the "Corner," we wish you a most pleasant Sunday...

This JUST in... A "Kev's Corner" EXCLUSIVE -
We are happy to bring you news you won't yet read in local papers, including "David Magazine," "Southern Voice," or "Creative Loafing..." You won't even find this on Reichen's website yet BUT Reichen will be here in Atlanta, autographing his new book, and "Kev" will be on hand to get a photo with him! (I am so excited, I wet myself a little bit...) Stay tuned for details... (Thanks to my "anonymous" friend who offered the tip...)

Happy 60th! (Sort Of...)

Happy Saturday to you all! "Kev" is now back among the "living" after having been away for 8 days...

I would like to welcome a new reader to "Kev's Corner," "Kev's" big (slightly older, slightly wiser, not fatter) sister, Karen! "Kev" will write about Karen at some point and will highlight some of our life and times together. She is not only my sister, but one of my "best" friends...

Also, today marks the 60th post here at the "Corner." (I can hardly believe it.) Since September 1, we have had 800 visits from folks all around the world! (Yes, that is exciting!) I would like to, again, thank you for stopping in... As always, your comments are appreciated.

To help us celebrate, please enjoy this photo of a guy "Kev" can never get enough of, David Beckham, and click HERE to hear the Deep Dish 2005 dance version of Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams" and remember, "players only love you when they're playin'." (That's "Kev's" advice for the day...)

Hugs & Kisses -

Friday's HOT Guy...

It's, you got it, FRIDAY!

"Kev" is back in the A-T-L to bring you not ONE, but TWO HOT Guys, both from his distant past. "Kev" met these lads a long time ago, in the 5th grade, and became reacquainted with them last weekend at the 20th high school reunion (and by reacquainted, I mean I touched them both inappropriately. It was F-U-N, fun.)...

The first HOT Guy is Bryan E.. Back in the day, Bryan was an "A-List" "All-Star." Bryan was the athletic, dreamy-eyed, boy next door type. Most girls wanted to date him (I did too!) and most boys wanted to be him (OK, to my knowledge, just me since I never asked other boys, "Hey, who would you rather be?"). In high school, I don't think Bryan and I spoke once. However, at the reunion, Bryan approached me and asked why my high school "secret crush" was Bob B. and not him...(It was the FIRST thing he said to me.) I told him I was a big "ho" back then and that my secret crush could have been one of any on the basketball, football, gymnastics, wrestling or baseball teams, including the team's coach, team sponsors, or anyone remotely affiliated with the "team" (except it was REALLY Monday's HOT Guy, Mark C., who was in the orchestra). We talked of old times from the neighborhood and about mutual friends we each knew. Bryan asked if I wanted to "feel his ass." I replied, "Certainly. That would be nice." Who died and went to heaven? Me... He mentioned he had 3 children and a painting business. I replied, "Really? Take your clothes off and tell us about it." I told him another of my "secret crushes" was his good friend, Shaun L.. I mentioned that my gym locker was next to Shaun's (he's the kid who wore red polyester underwear and had the body of a 25-year-old). Bryan asked me if we were ever in the same gym class (he was too popular to remember..). I replied, "uh huh." He turned red (might have been the gin) and said he hoped I was "generous" when recounting the times I had seen him naked... I left him alone after he so kindly let me touch him inappropriately (I did ask him, "please don't sue me"). We reconnected a few more times throughout the night. As everyone knows, "Kev" has met a few celebrities a time or two. When I saw, and spoke with Bryan, I had the same sensation I get when I meet a celebrity (except I didn't cry and run away like I normally do). I know... warped, twisted, silly and misguided.

The second HOT Guy, whom "Kev" also met in the 5th grade, is (D-List) Hollywood actor, Bill H.! Bill referred to his movies as "low budget" so I figured it's OK to call him "D-List" since no one here has probably seen anything he has been in. I did ask Bill if he had starred in anything "Kev" might have seen. Gay porn perhaps? Bill laughed. Most of Bill's career was spent at "Medieval Times," (you know, the place where "knights" joust and you eat turkey legs with your hands) and since I had a little "gin" myself, I can't really tell you as what, but I do know that he told me he had really long hair for a while that he was "happy" to cut off, he met his (23-year-old) child-bride there, and she was NOT a "wench" as "Kev" had assumed, she was a "Princess" (a little bitchy too..). I told Bill I would LOVE to have "medieval times" with him and asked if he would mind acting out some Shakespeare. He was VERY Hollywood about it and posed for pictures like the other celebrities "Kev" has met. Doesn't he look a little frightened in the photo?

While I am glad the event is over, it has left me with some VERY deep thoughts on reunions and why I think everyone should attend theirs. I am, however, still far too tired to put this into words, so please just enjoy the pics of Bryan and Bill (and please excuse "Kev's" baldness).

To JoAnn, Scott, Mark, Sara and my new "husband," Brad - you were the real celebrities of the night. Thanks again. (I still get tingly when I see each of you...)

Please enjoy these photos from 20 years ago...

"Kev's" other "secret" crushes...

Happy National Coming Out Day!

Today is, you got it, NATIONAL COMING OUT DAY! "Kev" isn't even making this up!

We hope your day was great (even if you didn't celebrate coming out)! "Kev's" time in Chicago is winding down and he is very TI-RED. While "Kev" enjoyed visiting with some of the people he loves MOST in this world, and is sad to again say "goodbye," he is happy he will be back in his own "crib" tomorrow...

"Kev" will be back on Friday with TWO very "special" HOT Guys that "Kev" simply adores...

Until then, please enjoy another photo from last weekend's soiree of Princess and HOT Guy, "Scottie."

Princess & "Scottie" -
Again, THANK YOU for the hospitality and for your friendship (and chocolate chip cookies)! Without sounding too gay, I love you both...

HOT Nemesis

"Kev" is taking a break today, but please enjoy this contribution from my dear friend, whom you have all grown to know and love, JoAnn, Princess, or INCESS-PRAY...

That bastard!

I heard that a lot over the past month or so. The bastard in question is our old friend Brad. Our dear "Kev" worked himself into quite a lather wondering why Brad responded to my emails but completely ignored his. "Kev" pouted. "Kev" complained. "Kev" analyzed. "Kev" is lucky he is so cute because he was on the verge of being annoying.

Cut to the night of our fancy reunion gala. How often do you get to go to one of these shindigs, right? So we pour ourselves into our fancy outfits and get ready for prom night, oops, I mean our reunion gala. Our old friend Brad is getting into town mere hours before the gala is to begin. In a fit of nostalgia, we make plans to drive by the home of Brad's parents, where he is staying, to caravan to the aforementioned gala. "Kev" turns into my twelve year old daughter, saying he'd rather stay home with my mother than go to his house. Arms crossed defiantly, "Kev" sits in the back seat of the trusty Honda Accord while the five of us go to Brad's. There is muttering. There are dirty looks thrown at MOI! "Kev's" blue eyes glint with anger.

We arrive at Brad's. There is hugging and hand shaking among dear old friends. "Kev" asks why Brad never replied to his email. Brad says that he replied the very day he received it and indeed thought it was very funny. Brad offers to take someone in his car. "Kev" shouts, "I'll go!" and jumps into Brad's rental with another reunion friend, Sara.

I shoot steely glares at "Kev" from our Accord to Brad's rental as we pass each other in traffic. "Kev" is giddy. "Kev" is liked.

But we already knew that, didn't we?

"Kev's" Post Script:
Yes, it's true..."Kev" was quite put off by Brad's non-response to "Kev's" outward gesture of kindness via email a month or so ago. "Kev" even told Princess, "He said it best when he said nothing at all." (Very dramatic, I know.) What is so funny about this, to me anyway, is that I did not want to see Brad because of this and he ended up becoming my "date" for the night (he is super cute and super nice too...). We spent a good amount of time together, even more so than I did with Princess. He was one of the nice surprises of the evening. I will never forget the look Princess gave me as her car passed ours, en route to the shindig. I knew I was in trouble (for something). THANK YOU, Princess, for your contribution. I love you dearly and apologize profusely for morphing into your 12-year-old on prom, er, reunion, night.

Monday's HOT Guy...

Hola amigos! (That's Spanish for "Hello friends!") Welcome to the FIRST EVER "Monday's HOT Guy..."

As you know, "Kev" and friends celebrated their 20th high school reunion this past weekend. While "Kev" has LOTS to report back, he has decided to share the events in pieces over the course of the coming week and next weekend. (He would also LOVE contributions from those of you who were also in attendance, both BEFORE and AFTER you became completely hammered, shouting "Look at the whore!" Let me just say, while INCESS-PRAY (pig-Latin used to protect identity) was the MOST captivating and stunning (I L-U-V, love her, she looked GR-EAT), it wasn't only her beauty that was intoxicating this weekend (I'm just sayin'...).

Anyhoo...Back to the FIRST EVER "Monday's HOT Guy..." The FIRST EVER "Monday's HOT Guy..." is one of my BEST friends from high school, Mr. Mark C.

If you have followed the posts, you may have read responses "Kev" gave to a questionnaire that was placed on a reunion website. In the questionnaire, that "Kev" will make reference to again since it opened MANY doors this past weekend and a couple "closets," (shout "holla" & stomp your feet) "Kev" proclaimed that high school quarterback, Homecoming King, blond-haired, blue-eyed stud, Bob B. was "Kev's" "secret crush."

The truth is, "Kev's" "secret crush" senior year was none other than our FIRST EVER "Monday's HOT Guy," Mark C... Out of respect for Mark, I withheld this when responding to the questionnaire and replaced him with super stud, Bob B. (who, let's face it, I would have loved to have shagged, as would the other 'mo's from my graduating class, except for Mo, because she "may" or "may not" be a lesbian. "Kev" can't confirm or deny this ("Kev" = safe harbor), so please don't repeat this to other classmates anymore, OK INCESS-PRAY).

I decided to make Mark a "Monday's HOT Guy..." because he is someone you would like to have around all week - not just for the weekend like most of those other "Friday's HOT Guys..." As Mark knows, I have nothing but fond memories of him and our times together (I still think of him on his birthday EVERY year). Mark's HOTNESS, to me, transcends his blond hair, blue eyes, warm smile and infectious laugh. Mark is STILL the nicest guy EVER, with a brain and conscious to boot! Like many of the other "HOT Guys," however, Mark is also very HETEROSEXUAL and very HAPPILY MARRIED to a cute, smart, young lass who was a GREAT sport about letting this (almost) 40-year-old, overweight and bald guy ogle her husband all weekend... THANKS Jessica, you're the best! Thanks, too, for relinquishing your "Mrs. CXXXXX" name tag to me. I will cherish it 4-EVER. Will you still name your first child "Kev" and can I start spending the holidays with you at your home? (I figured that's why you told me all about the extra space you have in the basement.)

For the record, Mark was not one of the former classmates "Kev" touched inappropriately this weekend, after obtaining signed waivers, of course, because he has too much R-E-S-P-E-C-T for him. (Stay tuned this week, however, to read all about "HOTTIE's" Brian E. and Bill H. (whose release forms are on file...).

To Mark, thanks, again, for being such a GREAT friend to me all those years ago. It meant A LOT and I will never forget it! And, after all these years, THANKS, for STILL being "SO DAMN HOT."

(Please enjoy the photo above of HOT Guy Mark, with "Kev" this past weekend.)

Gin & Regret

Good evening everyone! We hope you are well this Sunday evening!

The world of "Kev" has been a bit chaotic this weekend but as soon as "Kev" can formulate a few sentences, he will be back to tell you all about his visit to Chicago and his much anticipated 20th high school reunion, which proved to be FULL of surprises...

Until then, be well.

Please enjoy this picture of my husband, David Beckham, (taken at our home in England) and come back soon!

Friday's HOT Guy...

Friday is upon us once again! You got it, time for another HOT Guy....

This week's HOT Guy is singer/actor/all-around HOTTIE, Nick Lachey. (He's cute, right?)

Nick is currently on tour promoting his "What's Left Of Me" CD.

"Kev" is coming to you remote from "Princesses Castle," just outside of Chicago... (It's quite charming and "Kev" just L-O-V-E-S it here...)

Princess sends her love to all "Kev's Corner" readers...

"Kev" hopes you have a great weekend - he will be back next week with some "special" stories from the road.

“Where’d You Get All Those Blisters, Kid”

"Kev" is on vacation... Please enjoy this contribution from guest blogger and friend, Mr. P...

As a regular reader of "Kev’s Corner," I decided to pen a few words since he’s practically begging. Though this will not be as witty as Kevin’s posts nor reveal a "HOT Guy," it is something weighing on my mind this week.

Many people here at "Kev’s Corner" (OK, it’s just "Kev"), know that I’m currently training for the Dublin Marathon with Team in Training to raise research dollars for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Since about 15, I’ve always run (except the two years of drinking run in the Virgin Islands), but I’d never really considered running a marathon. My Grandfather was diagnosed with Leukemia in August 2005 and a client challenged me to run a marathon the same month. I, of course, took this as a sign that I needed to get involved. As we enter into October 2006, much has changed in just over a year. My Grandfather passed away in March and I’m now training for my second marathon with Team in Training…..this time in his memory.

Saturday, we will gather around 7:45am and head out for our last long run (20 miles) before going to Dublin. As we get ready for this last training run, I’m extremely, and probably sadistically, excited about Saturday’s run. I’m not sure if it is the knowledge that this is the last long run before we do 26.2, the fun and companionship among the group as we run, or that I really am sadistic. Each run is always made worthwhile by the countless testimonies of the honored heroes, the survivors, the friends and family members of lost loved ones, and the thanks you from those that benefit from the programs offered by LLS. My utmost best experience so far with Team in Training was after the marathon in January. Several of us were at the airport waiting for our luggage. The little boy we ran in honor of, came up to each of us, gave our legs a big hug, looked up at each of us and said, “Thank you for running for me." You’ve never seen four grown men fighting so hard to hold back the tears. It’s was amazing.

This week, my Grandfather has been in my thoughts and heavy on my heart……I’m missing him something terribly and miss hearing him call me “kid." (“How ya doing, kid?," “When ya coming to see me, kid?," “How’s the job, kid?," etc.) He was my personal hero who taught me so much about life, compassion, honesty, integrity and most importantly unconditional love and never-ending support. He has always been my rock and it was heart-wrenching to see blood cancer devour his body.

When I ran the first marathon in January, he really did not comprehend what I was doing. In October, I know that he will not only understand but I’ll hear him cheering me on saying, “You can do this, kid?," “Way to go, kid” and……later “Where’d you get all those blisters, kid?"

If you’ve ever had any desire to run a marathon or get involved with a charitable organization, I strongly recommend Team in Training. You can get more information at www.teamintraining.org.

"Kev's" Post Script:
Thanks for taking the time to contribute! Best of luck to you in Dublin. We expect to learn all about it, via way of the "Corner," when you return!

Daffy

Hello Friend! Welcome once again to "Kev's Corner..." As always, we (again "I" - I never get tired of saying that) are glad you are back...

"Kev" has been super duper busy these past several days but wants you to know that he is thinking about you, whoever you are (really, he is..).

So much to catch up on and so little time, but isn't that like life? (Yes, I am a little "daffy" this evening...)

"Kev" only has 5 more posts to restore and then all previously created posts will have been recreated (insert "oooo's" and "aaahh's" here). Some of my personal favorites are yet to come (everyone remembers "Happy Black Pride" and "Dinner With Deb(orah)" right?).

Again, if you EVER wanted to take over the "Corner," (like you might a small foreign country) now is a great opportunity to do so, since I will be traveling over the next week (yes, I am making the rounds to the towns and homes of some of my very favorite people in the WORLD - you guessed it, visiting with Grandma, Princess, my favorite middle school teacher, everyone I went to high school with and the rest of my friends and family at a place I call home).

We know some of you readers have LOTS to say (yes, this is true) and what better a place to bare your soul than here in cyber space. Remember, you will always have safe harbour here at the "Corner" (unless your boss, pastor, parents, significant other, etc. reads what you write, then we can't guarantee your safety). So send in your stories, rants, raves, HOT Guy or Gal pictures, and "Kev" will put them up for the world to see.

To my family and friends in Chicago - can't wait to see you in just a couple of days...

To everyone else, be well and stop back soon (we'll keep the light on for you)!
