Hey bitches, it's me, "Kev." Welcome BACK! C'mon in! ("We've" been waiting for you...)
It's THURSDAY! Happy THURSDAY everyone!
Today is a "special" day... First, our dear friend, "Princess," gave birth on this day 11 years ago to her second child, who is today a dashing young man! (He doesn't read this, but "we" have already called to wish him a "HAPPY DAY!") It's also actor Dean Cain's 42nd birthday ("we" think he is gay and just hasn't come out yet...) and finally, TODAY marks our 2nd anniversary here at the "Corner." Can you believe two years have passed us by already kids? Where does the time go? Tick tock tick tock.
Anyhoo, "we" would like to say, "Hey, THANKS!" to those of you who stop in here. "We'll" keep it going if you keep stoppin' in. "We" always welcome guest contributors, so if you feel inclined to post here, let us know! Also, we will be launching some new segments that we hope you will enjoy including, "A Guy I Saw At The Park Today" (which will simply include a photo of a random guy I took a picture of at the park - pretty self-explanatory, right?) and "Things My Grandmother Says" (which will include nuggets of wisdom/observations from my 81-year-old Grandmother (she's funny and her humor should be shared I think).
Okay, "we" have NO idea what is going on in the world today. Politics? I don't know. Entertainment? Couldn't tell ya. Weather? Can't even help you there. It's a little of this and a little of that here in Atlanta.
We'll sign off for now but hope you have a good night!
It's SUNDAY, the 27th of July! If you run into New York Yankee infielder Alex Rodriguez (A-Rod) (surprised I know this, right), say "HAPPY BIRTHDAY HO!" A-Rod turns another year older! (That's "our" way of saying we don't know/remember how old that man-ho is. We think he's 33 or something like that.)
I realize some of you may be growing tired of reading about Stevie Nicks and seeing her pictures and videos here at "The Corner." For that, we're sorry. (Not really, just trying to be polite. It is, after all, "Kev's Corner.") Now that I am BFF's with famed photographer, HERBERT WORTHINGTON, the obsession is reignited! (Did you know Herbert "shot" the cover of the "Rumours" album? It's true - he did.)
Please enjoy another video from Stevie's Soundstage performance taped in Chicago last October... THIS is "Sorcerer."
Can someone explain what Barack Obama was doing in Iran and Europe last week? While I don't know the purpose of his visit abroad (I have been too consumed talking with my new BFF, Herbert Worthington), I hear from right-wingers that he "already thinks he's President." (If they don't see the writing on the wall, we can't help them. He is the next President.) Anyhoo, weigh in, would ya?
Are you ready for ANOTHER Stevie Nicks video? (I'm trying to write about other things - honest...) THIS is "How Still My Love," from Stevie's first solo album, "Bella Donna." This was also recorded in Chicago in October. It is a sad song but "we" love it...
You are absolutely going to shit when you see this one (a song I can also play poorly on the piano...) It's amazing. Here's "Sara..." (I can do the dance move you see at 4:31. It's f-u-n. Try it as you watch Stevie perform it.)
What else is there to write about? Nothing, really. Alright, "we" will sign off for now.
What's 4 feet tall and 6 feet wide (no, not me)? THE PHOTO I JUST RECEIVED OF STEVIE NICKS! Seen above, the picture, shot by Herbert Worthington III, was taken in the mid-1980's for Stevie's "Rock A Little" album. The photo was shot in black and white but was hand tinted by Stevie herself. I have been very excited about acquiring this since no one else has this (it was blown up just for ME). It is so large, you can very easily read the time on the watch Stevie is wearing. (It was 10:30.) I have named this "The Worthington." Herbert signed the photo as well. Anyhoo, I'm off to the framer.
That's all the news I have today bitches!
See YOU tomorrow!
Much love -
"Kev"
UPDATE -
Herbert Worthington called this evening to make sure the photo arrived in good condition and to offer framing advice. He is a very nice guy.
It's... HUMP DAY! Welcome back YOU! (Yes, I am shouting at the monitor.) What's new? "We" just returned from a 3-day business trip and couldn't be happier to be back home and back at the "Corner."
Did everyone hear the news that Batman actor and HOT Guy Christian Bale was arrested in London earlier this week after allegedly assaulting his mother and sister? Yes, it's true. Apparently, the shiz went down after Christian's mother said some pretty upsetting words about Christian's wife (I'm dying to know what she said - must have been partly true if it upset him so, right?). Anyhoo, good luck sorting all of that out. (He is just so pretty, isn't he? Love the haircut.)
Remember Monica Lewinsky, White House intern/home wrecker? Sister-girlfriend turned 35 today! (Linda Tripp, Monica's "friend"/snitch is now 58.) Sorta hot and weird actor Woody Harrelson turned 47 and rock guitarist, Slash, turned 43 (he seems older, doesn't he?). Anyways, to all of yous - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
What's up with the Jonas Brothers? I hear they are wildly popular among teens but I don't get it? (Just thought I would throw that out there...)
Kathy Griffin's new comedy CD, "For Your Consideration," was released on June 17th. "Kev" has it and can tell you, it's hysterical. All new material. A "must buy" to add to your collection! Google it, buy it, listen to it and tell us what you think.
What else, what else? OH, my "one of a kind" "larger than life" photo of Stevie Nicks arrives TOMORROW. I have been tracking the package all week as it has made its' way from Los Angeles to Atlanta. It is now in Atlanta! (I am working from home tomorrow JUST so I can be here to receive it!) I will take a picture of it and share it with you AND I will share the details of the upcoming "unveiling" party.
Okay, I am one tired homo tonight, so this sister-girlfriend is going to say farewell for now. (Farewell!) I hope YOU have a GR-EAT Thursday.
How is everyone on this BEAUTIFUL Saturday? "We" missed YOU yesterday because "we" were out at the movies... Go see "The Dark Knight," actor Heath Ledger's last full-length feature film. It's great (okay, I'm no Roger Ebert). Heath's portrayal of "The Joker" was winning and Christian Bale as "Batman" is, well, hot. (I tried to post several Christian Bale pictures here for you, but "we" are experiencing some technical difficulties. Google him. He's pretty. "We'll" try again later today.)
As you know, Stevie Nicks' "Soundstage" performance aired last Thursday on PBS (in select cities). THIS YouTube clip gave me chills. (I like when she spins!) Enjoy!
Watch this one too... You get a glimpse of Stevie's personality.
Okay, I have places to go and people to see, so YOU be good, enjoy your day, etc...
Much love -
"Kev"
WEIGHT UPDATE -
As of today, I have lost 30 pounds in two and a half months! 30 pounds is like the size of a 3-year-old or border collie. Geesh! I also ran into my former personal trainer, Josh, at the park today and Josh said I looked great! (He looked great too... Judge for yourself - his picture is below) Anyhoo, I am now 10 pounds away from my overall goal of losing 40 pounds!
What's UP bitches (term of endearment)? WELCOME BACK! "We're" glad you're here. (Really, "we" mean that.) It's THURSDAY!
A whole mess of movies open tomorrow that "we" can't WAIT to see... Of course, Heath Ledger's final performance in "The Dark Knight" opens and is already generating a lot of buzz. Then there's "Mamma Mia" starring Meryl Streep. (I was excited to see that, but the previews look, well, stupid.) Finally, there's "Get Smart" starring super funny guy Steve Carrell. Lots of options. We like options!
If YOU have PBS (most people have PBS) then you may have been one of the lucky ones to catch Stevie Nicks tonight. Stevie's "Soundstage" was taped/recorded last October in Chicago and was broadcast in select cities this evening. (Did you know... for this performance, models were hired to sit in the first few rows and act as fans? I guess the producers didn't want run-of-the-mill shemps like me on camera.) Unfortunately, the show was not broadcast here in Atlanta (but fear not... the DVD is on its' way!). Clips of the performance are already available on YouTube! Here's one for you...
Okay, here is something I swiped from another blog that I thought was worth posting here... Let's hope it's true.
Scientists have isolated two genes which may prevent people from contracting HIV or at least slow the rate at which they develop AIDS, a new study has found.
The genes were isolated by comparing the genetic profiles of people in their first year of HIV infection with those who managed to resist infection despite repeated exposure to the virus.
The "good" versions of the two genes were present in 12.2 percent of those who resisted infection compared with only 2.7 of patients in primary HIV infection.
Researchers are not yet sure how this protection works.
One of the genes codes for a receptor on the surface of the immune system's natural killer cells which destroy infected cells in the body.
The other codes for a protein which binds the first gene and dampens the natural killer cell activity.
The most likely explanation is that HIV prevents the protein that dampens the killer cell activity from being expressed, allowing the killer cells to destroy cells infected with HIV.
That's IT for tonight kids... Remember, rulers make bad lovers. (If you watched the video, that would make perfect sense.)
Welcome BACK everybody! How have YOU been? "We've" missed YOU!
"Kev" (lame third person reference to, well, ME) is home from a quick trip to Chicago. The weather was great, the food was great, but most importantly, the company (for the most part, give or take a whack-a-doo or two) was great. As always, I stayed at the home of my dear friend whom I call "Princess," who always keeps me in stitches. THANKS, "Princess," you're the best. (I love you.) While I haven't written about her here until today, "Princess's" mom (whom I love dearly), I learned, also "stops in" here at the "Corner" every once in awhile. Since "we" have monikers for everyone, we'll call her "The Queen." Anyhoo, I have the utmost love, respect, admiration, etc..., etc... for "The Queen," so I was a little embarrassed when I learned that she reads this stuff (you know, all these pictures of "HOT guys" and stories about my "first" time, etc..., etc...). I guess if my own Grandmother reads this as well as my former school teachers, then I shouldn't be embarrassed to share with "The Queen." It's all in fun, right? (One day soon, I will write a post all about her since she is one of my favorite people on the planet.)
I will tell you (all of my closest personal friends and complete, total strangers) that the purpose of the visit was three-fold... 1) celebrate my 19-year-old nephew's birthday, 2) visit with "Princess" after her 15 day Italian holiday and 3) help "The Queen" (and "The King") move from the home they have lived in for 36 years, a place I have fond memories of. (It was like the final episode of "Friends" when Monica's apartment was empty.) I was happy to share the last meal in their home with them in their garage. No sadness though - they are moving into what will be a new home in ear shot of "Princess," and I am looking forward to the meals in the new home! (It's all about the food with me...)
Okay... a little over a week ago, I mentioned that "Kev" (it's hard to stop the third person thing) "met" someone from Stevie Nicks' "inner circle." Yes kids, it's true. Here's the back story... I have wanted a larger-than-life size portrait of Stevie and have searched high and low for months for something to fit the bill. While I don't want to divulge all of the details, I can tell you that I am getting a 4' X 6' picture of Stevie from someone who has photographed Stevie, as well as many other "stars" for years... (This isn't simply a poster - please don't refer to it as that. Someone asked me today "When is your poster coming," and I corrected him. It's "art." Expensive art.) This person even "shot" the cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours" album. The photo I am getting (which arrives TOMORROW) has never been produced in this size. It is one-of-a-kind, something no other fan has! Excited? Undoubtedly. Throughout the process of obtaining this picture, errr, "art," I was able to speak with this famous photographer MANY times. He shared first-hand stories of Stevie, which, for me, was a lot of fun. Anyhoo, that's my BIG news. There WILL be an unveiling party as well! ("Princess" has already started working on the drink menu! She is VERY creative...)
Kathy Griffin will be performing two shows in Atlanta at the Fabulous Fox Theatre on September 5th and yours truly will be in the 4th row pit. If you would like to see Kathy, there are still lots of great seats available (just not as great as mine).
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie "welcomed" twins on Monday. One boy and one girl. If I were a real journalist, I would share their names, weight, time of birth, distinguishing characteristics, etc..., but the truth is, I don't care (and I am tired).
Funny actor Will Ferrell is 41 today.
Okay, if you haven't noticed, I am a little "daffy" this evening. Just simply ready for bed.
It's HUMP DAY! "We" hope YOU are having a GR-EAT week!
Okay, "Kev" (still me) is heading out of town until Tuesday, so, unfortunately, there will be no new posts until then. (Read some of the old ones - there are 508 to choose from.) Visit amongst yourselves. Check out the other fine blogs that Google has to offer. Start a new hobby. Do a puzzle. Solve a crime. Start a new religion and see how many people you can convert to it. Internet porn is a possibility. Your options are vitually limitless!
However you choose to spend the next week, "we" hope YOU have a GR-EAT week and "we" will be back next week!
Hey BITCHES! C'mon in! TODAY marks our 507th post (and boy are "we" tired)!
Is everyone having a GR-EAT week so far? "We" hope so.
I'm just going to lay it all out here - I got nothin' tonight. (Losing weight is really taking all of my time.) Perhaps one of you would like to contribute a little sumpin' sumpin' to the "Corner?" (Let "us" know...)
A whole heap of hot messes were born on this day... This includes actors Fred Savage, Tom Hanks, Kelly McGillis and Jimmy Smits. Grunge rocker Courtney Love was also born on this day. Happy birthday to all of you. ("We're" certain they read this.)
Okay, enjoy the HOT guy above and enjoy your Tuesday. "We'll" try to think of something to write about for hump day.
Who died and went to gay Heaven? (Just a metaphor, of course.) ME! Welcome back EVERYONE! Why all the excitement, you ask? Well... If you read yesterday's post, and furthermore, the comments left on yesterday's post, then you may have noticed that Del Shores himself "stopped in" here at the "Corner!" (Yes, we appreciate the comments from all you regular, less fabulous, i.e., non-celebrity type people as well - without you, "we're" nothing but having Del "stop in" is, well, fabulous. Fabulous and fun.)
Del, very awesome of you to comment. Thank you. Your movie, plays, and now series are truly top-notch, hysterically funny, yet touching and are "favorites" among both "our" gay and straight friends alike. "We" LOVE you! "We" also LOVE the entire "Sordid Lives" cast and especially Atlanta friend, Leslie Jordan - he's been very nice to his Atlanta fans. I met Leslie on the street last year and he recorded a voice message for a friend that we featured here at that time, which was just a ton of fun. Anyhoo, THANKS and best of luck with your series!
For those of you who don't have LOGO, call your cable provider, order it (right now - go, get up) and watch Del's new series, "Sordid Lives" starting July 23rd.
To learn more about Del and his projects, visit his official site by clicking DEL SHORES.
Okay, that's IT for today folks. "We" hope YOU have a GR-EAT week.
HAPPY PRIDE! Today was "GAY PRIDE" in Atlanta. It literally rained on the parade, but it was fun, nevertheless. I have to say, after this weekend, I have no pride left.
If you've seen "Sordid Lives," a gay cult classic by Del Shores, then you know, of course, Del Shores! Del and actress Ann Walker (LaVonda) were at today's festivities. I met Del and even got Ann's autograph (but spilled wine on it and threw it away.) Anyhoo, the television series of "Sordid Lives" airs on Logo beginning July 23rd. If you attended pride, then you may have been one of the lucky ones to catch the first two episodes (like I did).
The religious zealots were particularly aggressive today, picketing the parade and telling people they are going to hell. (They have no fashion sense and their signs lacked style, creativity and flair, which, in my opinion, is the real transgression deserving of eternal damnation.)
Okay, that's IT for tonight. Someone here needs to go to bed!
(Oh, THANKS to new friend Zane for hosting last night's PRE-pride party. This guy knows everyone and had about 100 of his closest friends over. It was f-u-n, fun, so THANKS again for the invite.)
Have a good week everyone!
L-U-V,
"Kev"
I like THIS song. I hope you will enjoy it as well...
It's SATURDAY people! It's "Gay Pride" weekend here in the A-T-L, so "HAPPY PRIDE" (girl) to all of you (bitches)!
The little things excite me. You know this. Since inception of this blog, "we" (okay, just me) have posted just about as many YouTube clips of "all things" Stevie Nicks as possible. I have been looking and looking and looking some more for a song that really IS one of my favorites to share with you and I finally found it today! Some background first... When I was a young gay, I internalized everything Stevie Nicks wrote, recorded, performed, etc... I would associate people/experiences with her songs, and if you were lucky, YOU would be assigned a song that reminded ME of YOU. Dramatic? Yes. Gay? For certain. (I no longer do this. I'm too old for the drama. Now I just enjoy the music. It's much easier this way.) Anyhoo, THIS song, again, a really beautiful song, is my song for (here comes some personal info, but hey, we're friends (and strangers) , I'm old and I can share this now) my first real "crush," (by crush, I mean the guy I did "it" with for the first time, as well as the 2nd, 3rd, 5th, - you get the idea), Randy! Since there were a number of "Randy's" in my romantic life, I will clarify... "Randy The First." "Randy The First" was the complete package... Blond, blue, muscular, fun/funny, great smile, great you know what, etc... I l-o-v-e-d, loved him. (We'd stay out all night on Friday's in Chicago's "Boy's Town," watch Pee Wee's Playhouse in bed on Saturday, I weighed 130 pounds, had a full head of hair, no sense in my head... those were the days. It was "fun.") That was until he starting stealing money from me. (That's always a kill-joy, isn't it?) Nevertheless, I hope YOU enjoy "If I Were You" (I'd stop stealing from me, a.k.a., "Randy's Song") from Stevie's 1985 album, "Rock A Little." (Today "Randy The First" is a successful real estate mogul in Galena, Illinois. While I haven't seen him in YEARS, we still exchange Christmas cards.) TMI? Probably.
Did everyone have a GR-EAT 4th? I hope so. I would like to say "thanks" to my friend, "Mr. P.," who hosted a 4th of July get together at his home with about 100 of his closest friends (and a few strangers). (This guy knows EVERYONE!) I had a GR-EAT time meeting new people (who didn't believe me when I told them I was 41), and, of course, seeing Mr. P. (who is "special" to me). (I think we saw some fireworks, but I don't remember them too much...) I think I'm still drunk on Independence Punch? Anyhoo, THANKS, Mr. P., for the party. Your friends are fun. (Sorry I didn't stick around to help clean up.)
I checked celebrity birthdays for you and there are none too note worthy born yesterday or today.
Click HERE to hear another one of my "favorite" songs.
Okay folks, I hope YOU have a GR-EAT Saturday. (I have nothing else to write about!)
I am a little beside myself today... I mentioned in Monday's post that "Kev" (that's me) would be getting something from someone in Stevie Nicks' "inner circle" that no other fan has. While I can't share the details YET, I can tell you that I spoke on the phone for over an hour last night with this person who is a verified/certified friend of Stevie's as well as many other rock stars, including another one of my favorites, Don Henley. I've known of this person for years but didn't expect to ever speak with them. This person even knew Jimi Hendrix! To say I am "excited" about this is an understatement. I didn't ask any questions - I simply sat, listened and took it all in. I am now referring to this person as my "secret phone friend" because they have called me several times over the past 3 days (no lie!) and asked me not to give out any of their information (phone or email), which I will respect. I will share what I can when the time is right. (It's all very Kristy McNichol, "Summer of my German Soldier" right now. I love drama.) No, it is not Waddy Wachtel.
I also dreampt about Stevie again last night...
Okay, in addition to speaking with my "secret phone friend," I also spoke with my not-so-secret BFF, "Princess" last night. We were talking about those stupid songs that make people cry (like "Wildfire," a song about a little girl dying and a horse being lost when there came an early frost - you know it, we posted it here a week or so ago.) Anyhoo, here is a song that just "gets to" "Princesses" hubby -
And here is a song that I absolutely hate... You should NEVER listen to this song in the dark while smoking pot (like a crazy person would) -
Here's where we ask YOU to tell us about those songs that make you cry...
THANKS for stoppin' in! For the origins of this blog, please read "our" maiden post from July 2006! (I really don't have the time to bring you up to speed here.)
