"The Corner" Turns 1!
HEY HEY! You made it! C'mon in!
Today is, as you know, our FIRST anniversary and 300th post! "The Corner" turns 1!
I thought long and hard about what to write today. It's "special," right? If you had asked me two years ago what a blog was, I would not have known. Really. I remember asking Kitten when I lived in Phoenix and neither of us knew. Today, more than 75 million people "blog" worldwide. (That's a LOT of trash out in cyber space, I am sure.) There are even blogs about blogs. I read a GR-EAT article about blogs (but I lost it). The article basically answered the 5 "W's" (who, what, when, where, why), etc... It was fascinating. You will have to trust me because, like I said, I lost it. Anyway, I do remember the article indicating that bloggers are "ego maniacs who must have attention" and are "people who feel they have something to say" and finally, "people who want to be real journalists but can't." (I think I fall in the last category.) Blogs are also considered online diaries. (Trust me, this ISN'T my diary. I keep a journal. If it were, however, you would be reading all about my night with... or the time I... And how you really pissed me off when you...) What this is, however, is a common place to stay in touch with folks I care about around the country (and world). I admit, I like to write. I wish I WERE a writer, so by "stoppin' in," you are fulfilling a "dream" of sorts. No little boy says, "When I grow up, I want to be an INSURANCE MAN!" It is also "fun" to share with the world when you shake Stevie Nicks' hand (three times this year), when you chase Leslie Jordan down the street so he will call your BFF on the cell phone, when you kiss Reichen Lehmkuhl or slap Anderson Cooper's ass (okay, I didn't do either of those last two things - but I could have). It is also a way to "celebrate" all of you (which is fun for me), show some gratitude for those of you I appreciate, talk about events in our world, post pictures of "HOT Guys," and, unfortunately, a place to remember those who are no longer here. All of that said, "we'll" keep writing if you keep readin!
Here's the LAST childhood picture I have to share. I promise. This was taken in the first grade, the first time, or "Part I," as I refer to it. (Yes, it's true - I repeated the first grade. Don't tell anyone. Something about not paying attention and talking too much. Not much has changed. Apparently being darling wasn't enough. OH, I DO remember pretending my desk was an airplane and I would fly out of the classroom - those were some good times!) Anyhoo, I thought this would go with "first anniversary." I remember the girl in the purple skirt. She wore that skirt a lot. (I did NOT like her - three words...white tr-ash). (Sorry purple skirt girl, if you read this.) I remember the smell, and taste, of that glue too. Oh, since I was forthcoming about the first grade, I feel the need to exonerate myself and tell you that I was almost a straight A student in college and earned all A's in my Master's program. I am not stoopid.)
If ANY of you know HTML programming, LET "US" KNOW! (We want to change the site's banner to incorporate pictures of many of YOU.)
For you (I was going to say "those of you" but I know there is only one of you) in London, catch Kelly Osbourne at The Cambridge Theatre in my FAVORITE musical, "Chicago," as Mama Morton! (Damn, I wish I could go...)
"We" would like to give a special HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHOUT OUT, via way of his mother, to a certain special someone, the cutest little boy EVER, (no, not Zac Efron) who turns 10 tomorrow! This kid is cute, smart, polite, cares about the world and has a conscious. He's incredible, like his parents, and I can't wait to see what he makes of his life. So, to "mom," please say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to GI-JOE! (He's far too young to be reading this.)
That's IT for our anniversary post! ("Kev" has got to get to the gym...)
Finally, a group, again, one of my "favorites," we haven't featured here yet, Green Day! (Thinking about my airplane desk reminded me of this...)
